The RCIA is the liturgical and catechetical process designed for adults.
It supports them as they seek to respond more deeply to God’s invitation.

The RCIA process is open to:

Adults who are not baptized and desire to study Catholic Christian beliefs and practices.

Adults baptized in another Christian church who might desire to become a Catholic

Those who have been baptized in another Christian denomination and who now wish to explore membership in the Catholic Church.

Adults baptized Catholic who have not received full reception into the church through the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.

Adult Catholics who would like to update or deepen their knowledge of faith.

Get Closer to God Through RCIA

The RCIA provides an opportunity for non-members to experience the life of the church while preparing to receive the Sacraments of  Initiation.

Being a sponsor is a great way for a Catholic to review the Church’s teachings and to put those beliefs into action by reaching out to those exploring membership.

Whether as a candidate or sponsor you will become more aware of your faith life and grow in grace.

If you have a sincere desire to grow and learn about God’s call to you, you are welcome to explore the Catholic faith with us on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room beginning October, 2010.

How long does it take?
The Rite of Christian Initiation is not a program of exact timing. At St John's Church of Little Canada we begin the process in October with the Sacraments of Initiation being received at Easter. The period of Mystagogy is for the six weeks following Easter.

What if I was baptized in another church?
Once your baptism is verified, you will not be baptized again. In the Rite of Initiation, those who have received baptism will make a profession of faith in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and will receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation.

What is the first step?
If you are seriously considering becoming a Catholic, or would simply like more information about RCIA, please contact: Sue Laddusire at 651-288-3268 or email sladdusire@stjohnsoflc.org .

Christian Initiation of Children

2009/2010 Schedule

"LET THE CHILDREN COME TO ME"
                                                                                    Mark 10:14

Christian Initiation of Children (CIC) is the process for children who are not baptized or baptized in another tradition to be fully welcomed into the Catholic faith through Confirmation and Eucharist. It is a journey of faith for these children and their families. It is a time of listening and responding to the good news of Jesus Christ. Is your son or daughter not Baptized or older than second grade and not received First Reconciliation or First Eucharist or older than ninth grade and not received Confirmation?
